The Dillon M134D Black Hawk window mount attaches to either the left or right window station behind the cockpit. The mount will accept either an M134 or an M240 and will allow either weapon to be stowed internally or extended for combat.
The Dillon Black Hawk mount is a Form and Function copy of the General Dynamics window mount with two significant differences. The first is weight. The Dillon mount is made of Titanium and weighs 22.9 Pounds. This is nearly one half of the GD mount which weighs 41.8 pounds.
The second difference is the use of the Dillon Vertical Arm in place of the GD vertical arm. When General Dynamics designed its vertical arm, M134s did not use flash suppressors. When flash suppressors were adopted, the accuracy of the GD mount was compromised. The reason for this is that the inside wall of the flash suppressor nearest the firing barrel is acted upon by the gas exiting the muzzle. This action tends to drive the barrel off target. The Dillon Vertical Arm was designed with flash suppressors in mind. The result is a much more accurate weapon installation that does not fight the operator.
