Dillon's latest contribution to safety is the Safing Top Cover. The Safing Top Cover is a single piece unit that replaces all previous versions of the two-piece Top Cover and Safing Sector. The key feature of the new Safing Top Cover is the single motion Safing Sector. With it, the M134 may be instantly rendered safe. The Safing Top Cover is very simple to operate. To open and safe the weapon, press the latch and lift. Once open the spring-loaded latch locks the Safing Sector in the open position. The weapon is now safe. It is now possible to cycle live ammunition through without firing the weapon. This allows the operator to clear the gun of remaining cartridges or check the function of the weapon in the shortest amount of time possible. To close the Safing Top Cover depress the spring loaded plunger and close. The weapon is ready to fire.
Simple, never lose, "captured pins" make installation a snap. To mechanically safe the M134D using the Dillon Safing Sector, simply depress the latch and... Lift. Thats it. The sector locks open allowing the operator to cycle live rounds through the weapon without firing.
To close the Safing Top Cover depress the spring loaded plunger and... Close. The weapon is ready to fire.
